The Stanford Professional Publishing Course

This is not a course for those just entering the profession. It is designed for mid-career publishing professionals who are being groomed to take on broader responsibilities in magazine or book publishing. A minimum of four years’ publishing experience is required. Under certain circumstances, a waiver may be granted at the discretion of the director. International applicants must have good command of standard English speech as no written abstracts are provided.
Tuition & Housing Cost Main Course: $4,350 tuition, plus $664 housing
Main Course tuition includes Course materials, full breakfasts, all lunches, Opening Reception and Dinner, and closing Barbecue for the 8-day Course. Housing includes an 8-night package, with arrival on July 12, departure on July 20. Because of the intensive nature of the Course and valuable interaction with on-campus speakers and peers, participants are encouraged to stay in the on-campus student residence reserved for the Course. The package rate for a single room during the main Course is $664.
International Pre-Course: $1,425 tuition, plus $249 housing
Additional tuition for the International Pre-Course covers materials, full breakfasts, all lunches, the Pre-Course Opening Reception and Dinner, and several field trips. Housing includes a 3-night package, with arrival on July 9, and covering the nights of July 10 and 11. EARLY APPLICATION DISCOUNT
Because enrollment is limited, we encourage you to apply early. If you submit your application by the early application deadline of April 15, 2008, and are accepted into the Course, you may deduct 10% from the total tuition fee. (Discount does not apply to housing.) STANFORD PUBLISHING COURSES ALUMNI DISCOUNT
If you have attended other Stanford publishing courses--Publishing on the Web, Strategic Planning for Publishing Executives, Video-on-the-Web Workshop or Stanford Publishers Travel-Study Tour of China, you may deduct 10% from your total tuition fee. (Discount does not apply to housing.) GROUP DISCOUNT
If two or more participants from the same company apply together and are accepted into the Course, each may deduct 10% from the total tuition fee. (Discount does not apply to housing.) MAXIMUM DISCOUNT
Discounts may be combined for a maximum discount of 30%. Application Fee
A $200 non-refundable application fee is due with your application.
(Not applicable to those applying for financial aid) Acceptance Notification
We accept qualified participants on a rolling admissions basis. Notification of acceptance will be mailed within three weeks of receipt of completed application and supplemental materials. Once the class has reached capacity, we accept no more participants regardless of the date of application.
Payment Deadline/Cancellation Policy
Full payment is due no later than June 15, 2008 in order to
secure your place in the Course.
CANCELLATION POLICY
To cancel please notify us in writing by June 15, 2008. You will receive a full refund less your $200 application fee. After that date, you will not receive a refund but you may defer your participation until the following year (any tuition increase will be assessed) or you may send a qualified substitute in your place (application required). Limited financial aid is available for this program.
